The 500 ton all-terrain crane is the heaviest machine in Maxtgc's fleet, used for the largest single lifts on UAE industrial and infrastructure projects: reactors and columns, prefabricated modules, bridge sections, and long-reach lifts where the crane has to stand well back from the load. Every lift at this scale is engineered in advance with a formal lift plan.

A crane of this size arrives as a convoy: the carrier, counterweight trucks and often boom or jib sections on separate trailers, all moving under route approval. Set-up takes longer, outrigger loads are high, and the site needs a prepared pad. The planning starts weeks ahead, which is why we ask for the lift details, site plan and target date as early as the project allows.

What a 500 ton crane typically lifts

  • Reactors, columns and heavy process vessels
  • Prefabricated plant modules and pipe racks
  • Bridge girders and precast infrastructure sections
  • Heavy equipment placed at long radius over existing plant
  • Large tank roofs and structures lifted in one piece

Typical figures for this class

Main boomAround 80 to 84 m, with luffing jib to well over 100 m
Working radiusUp to about 80 m depending on configuration
Outrigger footprintRoughly 9 m x 9 m up to 13 m x 13 m with extended base
ConvoyMultiple support trucks for counterweight and boom sections

Typical for the capacity class, not a specific unit. Boom length, radius and footprint are confirmed per job from the load chart of the crane we send.

Typical 500 ton crane jobs in Abu Dhabi

  • Refinery and petrochemical turnaround lifts in Ruwais and Al Dhafra
  • Module and vessel installation at industrial zones such as KEZAD
  • Infrastructure and bridge projects across the UAE
  • Port and heavy-industry lifts at Khalifa Port and Mussafah

Getting it to site

The crane and its support trucks travel as oversized loads under route approval, scheduled around restricted hours and, for long routes, the facility's gate clearance. The convoy, set-up pad and lift are planned together from the first enquiry.

What affects the daily rate

  • Hire length: a single lift carries the full mobilisation cost in one day; longer hires spread it.
  • Where the crane can stand: a longer radius can push the job into a bigger crane.
  • Ground conditions, and whether mats or pad preparation are needed.
  • Transport: counterweight trucks and route approval for larger configurations.
  • Site location and delivery distance, and any waiting time at a gate.

We do not publish rate cards because these factors change the price for the same crane. Send the lift details and you get a firm AED quote. Our guide on what affects rental rates explains each factor.

Included with every crane

  • Load charts and lift plans reviewed before dispatch, not on arrival
  • Certified operator and banksman supplied with every crane
  • Same-day mobilisation for standard lifts across Abu Dhabi
  • Rapid breakdown replacement so a stalled lift never stalls your programme

What to send for a quote

  1. Weight of the load, including rigging
  2. Radius: the distance from the crane to the pick-up and set-down points
  3. Height the load has to clear
  4. Site location and ground conditions where the crane will stand
  5. Date, start time and expected duration of the lift

Questions, answered

500 Ton Crane Rental in the UAE: FAQs

How is a 500 ton crane lift priced?

Per project. The configuration, convoy, route approvals, pad preparation, set-up and dismantling time and the lift itself are all engineered and priced together. We quote in AED once the lift study is done.

How much notice does a 500 ton crane need?

Typically weeks rather than days, to complete the lift study, arrange route approvals for the convoy and prepare the site. Contact us as soon as the lift is in the programme.

What does the site need to provide?

A prepared, level set-up pad sized for the outrigger footprint with mats, access for the convoy, a laydown area for boom sections and rigging, and clearance for the crew. We survey the site before confirming.

Do you supply the lift plan and engineering?

Yes. Lifts at this scale are planned with a formal lift study, lift plan and method statement, and the documentation your site requires for its permit to work.

Can you also move the load to site?

Yes. Heavy transport on lowbed and modular trailers, with its own route approvals, is arranged alongside the crane so the delivery and the lift are planned as one job.

Need equipment on site today?

Call our 24/7 dispatch line and we'll confirm availability, pricing and mobilisation time while you're still on the phone.
