A telehandler is a forklift with a telescopic boom. It lifts pallets, blocks, steel and formwork off a truck and places them on a roof, a scaffold or the far side of a trench, on ground a warehouse forklift could not drive over.
Maxtgc rents rough-terrain telehandlers with reach up to 17 metres from its Abu Dhabi base, with a certified operator, or self-drive at a reduced rate if your crew holds valid, in-date certification. Each machine is serviced on a fixed schedule and checked before dispatch, and long-term contracts include priority breakdown replacement.
Telehandlers work in KEZAD logistics yards and ICAD factories as well as on construction sites, and can be stationed with you on a long-term contract rather than delivered job by job.
What a telehandler is used for
- Unloading trucks and containers on rough ground
- Placing blocks, pallets and formwork at height
- Lifting materials onto roofs and scaffold loading bays
- Moving steel and pipe around fabrication yards
- General material handling on unpaved sites
Typical figures for this class
| Maximum lift height | Up to about 17 m |
|---|---|
| Maximum capacity | Typically 3 to 4 tonnes, with the boom retracted |
| Capacity at full reach | Much lower; read from the machine's load chart |
| Transport | Lowbed or flatbed trailer |
Typical for the class, not a specific unit. We confirm the figures of the machine we send before the booking is final.
Typical jobs in Abu Dhabi
- Container and truck unloading in KEZAD logistics yards
- Machinery and material moves inside ICAD plants
- Block and material placement on villa and low-rise projects
- Loading scaffold bays and roofs on mid-rise sites
- Steel and pipe handling in Mussafah fabrication yards
Reach and capacity are linked
A telehandler's headline capacity applies with the boom retracted and the load close to the machine. As the boom extends and rises, the safe load drops, sometimes to a fraction of the maximum at full reach. The machine's load chart shows how much it can carry at each height and distance.
So size the telehandler from the heaviest load at the furthest point you need to place it, not from the heaviest load alone. Send us the weight and where it has to go, and we will check it against the load chart before quoting.
Telehandler, forklift or crane?
On a paved warehouse floor, a forklift is quicker and cheaper for straightforward loading. On rough ground, or wherever the load has to go up and forward, a telehandler is the better tool. When the load is heavier than the telehandler can carry at that reach, or has to be set down over a building, a mobile crane takes over.
Many sites run a forklift and a telehandler side by side, and we can supply both on one contract.
Getting it to site
Telehandlers travel on a lowbed or flatbed trailer, which we arrange with the booking. Same-day dispatch is typical in ICAD and KEZAD; Dubai sites are usually served within 24 hours.
We do not publish rate cards, because hire length, operator, delivery distance and site conditions change the price for the same machine. Send the job details and you get a firm AED quote. Our guide on what affects rental rates explains each factor.

Telehandler Rental in Abu Dhabi: FAQs
How much can a telehandler lift?
Telehandlers in the 14 to 17 metre class typically carry 3 to 4 tonnes with the boom retracted, and much less at full height and reach. The machine's load chart shows the safe load at each position; send us the weight and placement point and we will check it.
Do I need a certificate to operate a telehandler?
The operator needs to be trained and certified for telehandlers, and many sites check this at the gate. If your team is not certified, hire the machine with one of our certified operators.
Can a telehandler be used like a crane?
Some telehandlers can take a jib or hook attachment for suspended loads, but that set-up has its own load chart and should be planned as a lifting operation. Tell us what you need to lift and we will advise whether a telehandler or a mobile crane is the right machine.
Can I keep a telehandler on site for months?
Yes. Telehandlers can be stationed with you on a long-term contract, with priority breakdown replacement.
