A motor grader turns a rough-levelled site into a surface you can build on. Its long blade, set between the front and rear axles, shaves and spreads material to a precise level and crossfall, which is why it is used for road formation, sub-base preparation and large flat areas such as yards and car parks.

Maxtgc rents motor graders in the 135 to 180 HP range from its Abu Dhabi base, by the day or on longer contracts. Graders are available with a certified operator who can grade to your design tolerance, and every unit is serviced on a fixed schedule and checked before dispatch.

Graders usually work as part of a team: an excavator or loader brings material in, the grader spreads and trims it, and compaction follows behind. Tell us where in that sequence you need the grader and we will plan the hire around it.

What a motor grader is used for

  • Road and track formation
  • Spreading and trimming sub-base and road base
  • Levelling large yards, car parks and laydown areas
  • Cutting drainage ditches and crossfalls
  • Maintaining haul roads on large sites

Typical jobs in Abu Dhabi

  • Road base and sub-base for internal roads on new plots in ICAD and KEZAD
  • Levelling laydown yards and storage areas in Mussafah
  • Forming access tracks for utility and pipeline projects
  • Maintaining haul roads on large earthworks sites
  • Preparing large areas for interlock or asphalt

What a grader needs to work well

A grader trims and spreads; it is not built to cut large volumes. It works best when material has already been placed roughly to level by an excavator or loader, and when the levels are set out so the operator can work to them.

Before the grader arrives, have the levels or pegs in place, material stockpiled close to where it is needed, and water and compaction ready to follow. A grader waiting on material or set-out is the most common reason a grading day costs more than planned.

Grading in UAE conditions

Sand and road base dry out quickly in the heat, which makes them hard to trim and compact to specification. Grading crews often start early and keep water close behind the grader, especially from June to September, when the midday break also shortens the working day.

On soft or wet ground near the coast, a grader can lose traction and leave ruts. Tell us the ground conditions, and whether the area has been compacted, when you book.

Getting it to site

Motor graders are moved on a lowbed trailer, timed around heavy-vehicle restricted hours on Abu Dhabi city roads. Same-day dispatch is typical for Abu Dhabi sites; Ruwais and other remote sites are scheduled, usually within 24 hours.

We do not publish rate cards, because hire length, operator, delivery distance and site conditions change the price for the same machine. Send the job details and you get a firm AED quote. Our guide on what affects rental rates explains each factor.

Questions, answered

Motor Grader Rental in Abu Dhabi: FAQs

Does the grader come with an operator?

Yes. Graders are available with a certified operator who can grade to your design tolerance. If your own operator holds valid, in-date certification, self-drive hire is also available at a reduced rate.

What is a motor grader used for?

Mainly for spreading and trimming material to a precise level: road and track formation, sub-base and road base, large yards and laydown areas, drainage crossfalls and haul road maintenance.

Can I hire a motor grader for one day?

Yes. Daily hire is available, with weekly and monthly rates for longer road and earthworks packages. For a single day, have the material and levels ready so the grader can work from the moment it arrives.

Which grader size do I need?

Graders in the 135 to 180 HP range cover most road formation, sub-base and site levelling work, with the higher end better suited to long runs and heavier material. Tell us the area and the material and we will recommend one.
